this post should be assassinated.

My work situation has gotten increasingly weird over the past few weeks. Not weird, "there are zombies trying to get me" weird, but still weird. Unfortately I can't really talk about it now, but eventually...

And anyways, shea has been gone on a climb this weekend, and off to Napa today with visiting friends, so I haven't really had the chance to talk to her lately. All of which adds up to a weird few days.

Office politics are always weird to me, but then again, I've only beet at this for a little bit. I don't mean to sound high and mighty or anything. I know I act childish from time to time. Everyone does to some extent or another. But I remember thinking as a kid how adults seemed so much more mature than us. I was too naive to see it then, but adults can be just as immature as middle schoolers. Especially when it comes to ego. Maybe it's more a function of this industry I'm in, but some people seem so prone to being self destructing its scary. Basically I look around and am amazed at some of the stuff that goes on.

meh.

This weekend the parents will be in town. In a week and a half I'll be here. The weekend, after that, over here.

Somewhere between then and now, I'll probably buy a new lens, to upgrade the one that came with the camera. There isn't anything technically wrong with it, but it isn't all that outstanding. I won't bore with the details, because no one that reads this is dorky enough to care about the differences between, say, a lens like this, and this. Suffice to say that the sheer amount of choices is staggering.

But part of the difficulty lies in that there is no perfect lens. Every lens has some tradeoffs, whether it has a single focal length but outstanding optics, or a huge focal range but poor glass, you can't get something for nothing. After an hour or few digging through reviews, it's safe to say that camera geeks can't agree on anything. Some hate a lens, others love it. Some complain about distortion, others praise a lens' lack of it. On and on it goes, meanwhile, since it requires a certain level of snobbery to dedicate enough time to not only review a lens but to debate it's merits in online forums, the only lenses that most seem to agree are good are the extremely expensive ones. Which leads a relative beginner with the impression that you need the professional lenses to get good pictures, which obviously isn't true. It's really easy, at least for me, to get caried away and want something I obviously cannot afford.

Too late to type, we'll see what happens when it's time.
